Yurisi Maldonado found her way into criminal defense earlier than most. Her interest started in high school, admittedly with a little help from Criminal Minds, but became something real when she interned at a criminal defense office and observed a case that showed her the human side of the legal system. She was hooked.
After graduating from high school, Yurisi joined The Collin County Law Group full-time while continuing her education, ultimately earning her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from East Texas A&M University in 2026.
Ask Yurisi what every client deserves, and her answer is simple: to be heard.
That belief shapes the way she approaches her role at The Collin County Law Group. People rarely call a law firm because they’re having a particularly good day. They may be frightened, overwhelmed, or simply unsure what to do next. Yurisi’s instinct is to listen, help them feel comfortable, and understand what they’re trying to say. It’s an approach she’s carried with her from the beginning; sometimes helping someone starts with making sure they know someone is listening.
Criminal law appealed to Yurisi because no two days, or cases, are quite the same. She enjoys the variety of the work and brings a sense of resilience and adaptability when the unexpected happens.
That sense of adventure follows Yurisi outside the office. She enjoys trying new things and staying active, whether she’s hiking, doing Pilates, going to the gym, horseback riding, canoeing, or finding another excuse to get outdoors.
